Day 1: Depart from the UK for Denpasar

Depart the UK for your indirect flight to Denpasar, arriving the following day.

Day 2: Candidasa

Arrive this afternoon at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar where you will be greeted by your private driver and guide. A private transfer takes you to Candidasa in Karangasem, Bali’s eastern province.

Check in to your seaside resort and enjoy afternoon tea.

Experience the very best of Balinese Massage with an hour his and hers indulgence designed to dissolve tension and stress. The choice of aromatics enhances the experience.

Dinner tonight of a set menu is at SeaSalt restaurant set in a traditional Balinese Bale and floating on a lotus pond.

Day 3: Candidasa / Tenganan

After a leisurely breakfast, depart for the Aga Village of Tenganan, home to the Bali Aga people known as Bali’s original people before the arrival of those from the Majapahit kingdom of Java. This is an interesting north – south aligned village compound and very different to the typical Balinese compound. The people here are known for their weaving of traditional ikat and basket weaving. Take a winding 2-hour light trek through rice fields, villages and plantations as you head towards Tirta Gangga. Tirta Gangga, which means 'water of the Gangges', is a sacred water palace that was built in the early twentieth century by the last king of Karangasem. Take lunch of a delicious Megibung traditional feast in a bamboo restaurant with views across the rolling fields and rice terraces at various stages of harvest depending on the season.

Return to your resort.

Late this afternoon, transfer to nearby Padang Bai where you will board the “Paramitha”, your private 15m cruise boat to enjoy a 1.5 hour sunset cruise with unrivalled views of Mount Agung and the colorful Candidasa coastline. You will take a romantic dinner on the upper deck of the boat with the island of Bali as your view.

Return to your hotel in Candidasa. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Candidasa to Lovina

Enjoy breakfast at hotel before travelling through small villages and picturesque landscapes, stopping for pictures and with your guide as you wish. Start with to Besakih Temple, the ‘Mother Temple’ of Bali which is located on the western slopes of Mount Agung, Bali highest volcano (2 567 m), it is the largest and most important temple on the island. Take lunch at Mahagiri Restaurant; with stunning terracing rice field views against a backdrop of Mount Agung. Arrive at Kintamani, offering spectacular views over Lake Batur and its volcano. Mount Batur standing at 1412 meters high is not the highest volcano in Bali, but it is the most active, having erupted more than twenty times during the last two centuries, and is surrounded by a spectacular caldera.

Leaving Kintamani through along winding mountain roads before stopping at the temple of Pura Puncak Penulisan for amazing 360 degree cloud shrouded views across the valley – well worth the steep staircase. This temple also holds a vast collection of deified King and Queen Statues dating to the 10-14th Century.

Continue to the volcanic sand beaches on northern Bali, arriving late afternoon.

Day 5: Lovina

Today is free at leisure (B)

Day 6: Lovina to Munduk

Take a leisurely breakfast or perhaps one last swim in the ocean before meeting the driver and guide around 12:00. Take lunch in an organic restaurant nestled amongst rice paddies and organic gardens on the shores of the Bali Straits.

After lunch, recline in the healing waters of Banjar Hot Springs. These picturesque hot springs, set amidst lush tropical gardens, contain two main pools with warm sulphur water pouring from the mouths of dragons, or Naga’s as they are locally known. Continue to Munduk, the cool area in central highlands of Bali.

Take afternoon tea with spectacular views across the valley.

Dinner tonight will be a candlelit set menu in your private Bale surrounded by water with unhindered views of the skyline. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Munduk to Ubud

Around 10:00, meet the guide and driver, travelling south to a vantage point overlooking two superb volcanic lakes: Buyan and Tamblingan. Stop for photos and to enjoy the scenery before descending to the thriving village of Bedugul. Enroute stop at the major water temple of Pura Ulun Danu, founded in the 17th century. This is perhaps one of the most photographed temples in Bali and is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of water, featuring a beautiful thatched Hindu Meru which seems to float on the lake. This temple is also home to a Buddhist shrine and a small mosque.

Continue to the UNESCO shortlisted rice terraces of Jatiluwih – the oldest and most spectacular in Bali for lunch in a local restaurant.

Travel through the scenic area of Marga to the resort in Ubud, arriving mid-afternoon.

No visit to Bali would be complete without witnessing traditional dance and this evening, you will be treated to a performance followed by dinner in Kafe ARMA. (B,L,D)

Day 8: Uhud Coking Class

This morning at 07:00, you’ll be transferred to central Ubud where you will meet your local chef and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while receiving a short briefing on the day’s program.

With your local chef, visit the traditional food market to learn about the intricacies of Indonesian regional cuisines and observe the daily market trade and the exotic fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices that grace Indonesian plates.

Returning to a traditional Balinese Kitchen via a tour of the rice paddies, you have the opportunity to delve deeper into the techniques of Balinese cooking under the guidance of an expert local Chef. Here, you will learn how to prepare Balinese signature dishes, using time honored techniques and become familiar with the fresh herbs, spices, and other ingredients that make Balinese food delightfully tasty.

At noon, sit down and enjoy a delicious lunch of your creations.

After lunch you will be met by your tour guide and driver to visit the the Rudana Art Museum where you will learn more about the symbolism and cosmology of this impressive building and the collection of fine arts within on a private walking tour by resident expert at the museum.

This afternoon there is some time to wander the eclectic streets of Ubud at your leisure before transferring back to the resort.

Day 9: Ubud to Seminyak

This morning, take a 60-minute yoga lesson at resort before breakfast and afterwards, receive a 75-minute couple treatment.

In the afternoon, check-out and travelling to the southern beaches of Bali.
